This privacy notice for the NHM LLC dba Civic Quest or A250 Box ("Co-Created“, "Civic Quest", "A250Box", "we,” “us,” or “our”) describes how and why we collect, store, use, and/or share (“process”) your information when you use Civic Quest and related services (the “Services”), such as when you:
- Visit https://www.mycivicquest.org
- Use Civic Quest features (e.g., account portal, email newsletter signups, QR-linked content).
- Engage with us in other ways, including events, customer support, or commerce related to Civic Quest
Civic Quest is a collaborative, family learning experience designed for children ages 7–12 to explore U.S. history alongside their caregivers; all accounts are created and controlled by adults.
Questions or concerns? Reading this notice will help you understand your rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Services. You can reach us at privacy@mycivicquest.org.

- What personal information do we process? Depending on how you interact with Civic Quest, we may process contact and account details (adult account holders), limited device data, and optional child first names supplied by the adult account holder.
- Sensitive data? We do not collect or process sensitive personal information.
- From third parties? Other than standard processors (e.g., email, analytics) acting on our behalf, we do not obtain personal information from third parties.
- Why do we process data? To operate, improve, and secure the Services; communicate with you; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and only as permitted by your choices and applicable law.
- Sharing? We share information with service providers under contract, and in specific situations (e.g., legal compliance, business transfers). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by U.S. state privacy laws.
- Safety? We use organizational and technical safeguards, but no method is 100% secure.
- Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing.

- Minors. Accounts are adult-owned. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

1) WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
A) Personal information you disclose to us (adult account holders)
In short: Information you provide when creating an account, purchasing products, contacting support, or subscribing to communications.
- Account & Contact Data. Name, email address, mailing address, phone number (optional), password.
- Family Profile (optional). A child’s first name (or nickname) you choose to enter to personalize the experience. Please do not provide a child’s last name or contact details.
- User-Generated Content. Messages you send us, form entries, or interactions with product features.
- All personal information you provide must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of changes.
B) Information collected automatically
In short: Basic device, log, and usage information collected via cookies or similar technologies.
- Log/Usage Data. IP address, browser, device type, operating system, pages viewed, time/date stamps, referring URLs, feature use, error logs.
- Device/Location Data. Device identifiers, approximate location inferred from IP. You can limit location sharing in device settings.

2) HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In short: To operate and improve Civic Quest and related communications.
- Account creation and authentication. Manage logins, account security, and preferences.
- Service delivery. Fulfilling orders, shipping, and providing content access (including QR-linked or digital add-ons).
- Support & communications. Respond to inquiries; send administrative emails (e.g., shipping updates, terms changes).
- Product improvement & analytics. Understand usage to improve features and content; maintain nonpartisan, trustworthy learning resources for families and educators.
- Marketing (adult recipients only). With your preferences, we may send updates about Civic Quest, NCC programs, and relevant content. Unsubscribe anytime.
- Security & fraud prevention. Detect, investigate, and prevent malicious or illegal activity.
- Legal compliance. Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms.
We process your information only when we have a valid legal basis (e.g., contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, legal obligation).
3) WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION?
In short: With service providers/partners who help us run Civic Quest, under contract.
- Service Providers/Processors. Ecommerce/fulfillment, customer support tools, email/SMS tools, web hosting/CDN, analytics.
- Affiliates/Program Partners. NCC initiatives and tightly controlled program partners that help deliver Civic Quest; these parties must honor this notice.
- Business Transfers. In connection with a merger, asset sale, financing, or acquisition.
- Legal. To comply with law, lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4) DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
In short: Yes. We use cookies, pixels, and similar tech to operate the site, remember preferences, and measure performance.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not function if certain cookies are disabled.
5) HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In short: Only as long as necessary for the purposes described, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law (e.g., tax, accounting).
When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process personal information, we will delete or anonymize it. Where deletion is not immediately possible (e.g., backups), we will securely store and isolate it until deletion.
6) HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In short: We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards (encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices). No method is 100% secure. Transmission of personal information is at your own risk; use the Services in a secure environment.
7) CHILDREN’S PRIVACY (COPPA) AND FAMILY USE
In short: Adult-owned accounts; no direct collection from children under 13 without parental consent.
- Adult control. Civic Quest is designed for families to use together. Accounts must be created and managed by an adult (18+).
- Child data. We do not request or collect a child’s contact information. An adult may optionally enter a child’s first name or nickname to personalize play; we recommend using nicknames.
- No marketing to children. We do not send marketing directly to children or use children’s data for advertising.
- Parental rights. If you believe a child provided personal data to us without appropriate consent, contact privacy@mycivicquest.org and we will delete it.
The product emphasizes cooperative, multigenerational exploration of history and civics.
8) YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data; to opt out of certain processing; and to withdraw consent where applicable.
How to exercise: Email privacy@mycivicquest.org with your request. We will verify your identity and respond as required by law. You may also unsubscribe from marketing by using links in our emails/SMS.
Cookies: Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can set your browser to block or delete cookies; some features may be limited.
9) CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK (DNT)
Browsers and mobile systems may include DNT signals. No uniform DNT standard is widely adopted, so we do not respond to DNT at this time. If a standard is recognized, we will update this notice.
10) U.S. STATE–SPECIFIC DISCLOSURES (CA/CO/CT/UT/VA)
Applicability. If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or Virginia, you may have additional rights.
- Categories collected. Identifiers (e.g., name, email, shipping address); commercial information (orders); internet activity (usage logs); inferences (to improve Services). We do not collect sensitive personal information; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by state laws.
- Purposes. See Sections 2–4.
- Sources. Directly from you; automatically via device/usage data.
- Retention. See Section 5.
- Your rights. Access, correction, deletion, portability, and (where applicable) opt-out of targeted advertising, selling, or profiling (we do not sell/share).
- How to exercise. Email privacy@mycivicquest.org. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; we will respond within the timeframe required by your state law.
California Shine the Light. California residents may request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing. We do not disclose personal information for such purposes.
Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authority. We will verify requests and may request additional information solely to complete verification.
11) DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
Yes. We will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant. The “Last updated” date shows the latest revision. Material changes may be announced via the Services or email.
